Open Source for Windows

Open Source tag
A great list of all many, if not all, open source projects out there. This list is a great idea that will help many, whether is be individuals or small buisness owners, who've always wanted to switch to open source and didn't know where to start.

On my part I will say that I found open source to be a worthy substitue to payware (software that you buy in order to use). On most projects the final resault is at least as good, and sometimes even better than the payware acquivalent.

I suggest you go over the list, and maybe even consider making a small donation to help keep it alive.

The Ninja Text Generator

The Ninja Text Generator is one of those funny generators you can now find online. The final result is an animated gif with the text you inserted, as seen here in my example:

Programming Languages

An article named "10 Programming Languages You Should Learn Right Now" by Deborah Rothberg which I've ran across is a very interesting read. It's nice to know that I'm not far from the mainstream recommendations as for programming languages.

On my personal lists are Perl, AJAX and PHP. If time will allow it, C is the next in line. Ruby on Rails was on it before Perl, but I've come to realize that you need a stronger background in programming to start using RoR, which is kinda sad (at least for me).

Maybe sometime later, after a firm grasp of Perl and PHP, I'll get around to learning Python, but that's in a while.

To Drupal or not to Drupal?

One of the things I'm currently considering is a new CMS system. I have to pick one out for a site I have to work on and finish with a deadline of about three months from today. The obvious ones that come to mind are Joomla or Drupal. Both are free CMS's, customizable and efficient. The finer details are what set them apart, at least to my knowledge.

I am on the lookout for a good Drupal tutorial for the beginners in Drupal, or something of the sort. If you know any good ones, drop me a link in the comments.

a NICE article

This link to the Washington Post's article about a company called NICE will also describe ways of usage of digital voice recordings. Though they don't really say it, I think this can also be applied to VOIP.
